My intentions of this blog are to of course showcase my talents but also to encourage others to bake! I want to show people that you do not have to attend a culinary arts school (if you do, that is obviously great!) to be successful in the baking business. You do not need super expensive equipment or a large oven to get wonderful and professional looking results. I have been in this business for a few years and I have learned so much without taking one class! And I want to share with you what I have learned.

Dora Cupcake Cake

Here is another cupcake cake that I made a few weeks ago. I love making these things! This one was for a little girl celebrating her 2nd birthday with a Dora theme. The #2 is shaped from 28 regular sized cupcakes with 2 extra cupcakes on the side. The cupcakes are covered in purple and pink buttercream icing. Dora's face and the flowers are made of fondant. This was such a quick and easy cake to make. I shaped the number 2 myself and I always have to remind myself to add icing on the bottom of each cupcake so they do not slide apart before the cake is ready to be dissected!

Spider-Man Cake

The same weekend that I was asked to make the Luau cake I was also asked to make a Spider-Man cake for a little guys birthday party. This cake is a two tiered cake as you can see; 14 inch round on the bottom and a 10 inch tier on top. Pretty simple design, Spider-Man's face with black webs spread across the two tiers. I recently stumbled upon a new technique for stenciling character's faces to cakes using wax paper and piping gel via youtube and I feel like I have solved a very huge problem for the near future...lol.

Luau Birthday Cake

So, I have been MIA from my blog because I had a whole lot going on. Well, hubby and I have moved into our own house and we are kind of just getting settled in 2+ weeks later. But I of course have not stopped baking and I have much to share....
In late July, I was asked to make a cake for a sweet young lady who was celebrating her 9th birthday Luau style!! Her mom decided to go with a round cake and asked that it be covered with a grass skirt and have flowers around the border. This was a pretty fun cake to make and I thought that the palm trees and sand (my secret weapon of graham crackers...shhhhh) made and extra nice touch!! I know that she enjoyed the party and enjoyed the cake as well.
